Dr. Andrew “Drew” King

Dr. Andrew “Drew” King is the Community Schools Program Strategist at the Massachusetts Teachers Association. Drew is a staunch education justice advocate with extensive experience conducting community-engaged education research. He did his doctoral dissertation study on the NYC community schools initiative and its "community organizing approach" to parent engagement. His research has also focused on the school-to-prison pipeline and youth organizing, and he previously worked in NYC government in East Harlem directing youth and education policy, organizing against stop-and-frisk policing, and building out the participatory budgeting initiative to empower disenfranchised communities.
