Boston Program Director for Beat The Streets New England

Shepard Vargo is the Boston Program Director at Beat The Streets New England, where he oversees wrestling-based youth development programs that empower at-risk and immigrant youth through leadership, mentorship, and athletic training. An Emerson College alum (MA, 2023), Blanquerna Universitat alum (MA, 2016), and Lake Erie College alum (BA, 2015), Shepard brings a strong background in global communication and public relations to his work. As a 2x NCAA All-American Wrestler (2nd in 2013, 5th in 2014), he is passionate about using sports as a vehicle for social change, fostering resilience, teamwork, and community building. Shepard has spearheaded initiatives promoting equity and access across Greater Boston, combining his expertise in education, civic engagement, and athletics.
